EDM 13 - Draw a phone

Finally! My first edm!

I have a love/hate relationship with my cell phone. I love how it looks, I love what it can do, I love being able to call anyone, anywhere, anytime. I hate when it rings when I'm driving though!
I had the great thrill of listening to a telecon this morning, and my cell was laying on the desk. I figured it was a good time to see if I could still do a pencil drawing. It has been ages! I forgot how difficult it can be to transfer color to b&w!

Better now

Well I finally got some of my links back, and found a few new ones as well. I love looking at other peoples art! I could spend days just following links from site to site to site! I know I have lost several hours just paging through blogs. If you have an art blog, send me the link and I will gladly check it out.

How do you like my sparkly? Kind of funky isn't it? I downloaded the Webfetti for the templates (see previous post *rolls eyes*) and I figured I may as well get something cool out of it.

ARRGH!!

I learned a valuable lesson this weekend...leave well enough alone! I decided to spruce up my blog. I found some websites that have different blogger templates, some very cool. Well...they ate my links! I am a bit frustrated. I hope I can remember all of the cool places I had listed.

More Wayward Plans *sigh*

I didn't get to work on the blanket last night. I found out shortly after I got home that the sweet young mommy was on her way over. I had enough time to hide it *lol*

So I decided to work on my polar bear instead. I'm not sure if I like the paper. I think it has a bit too much tooth and it is hard to get the nice smooth finish I am looking for. I'm happy with him so far.

Too busy to think straight!

On Saturday, I received an invitation to a baby shower - that is this Saturday! Hmmm...nothing ready to give...let's knit a blanket!! Egads! A blanket in a few days on top of everything else. We will see how it works out. I have a nice start, and it is so pretty so far. Lovely blues and greens, so very soft and fuzzy. At least it is nice to work with if i don't get it done on time.

I have also decided it is time to overhaul the website. I'm tired of the layout, so I need to do something new. It is probably a major contributing factor to the fact that I am so lazy about updating it *lol*

I'll post a pic of the blanket in progress tonight :)

Wayward Plans

Well, I didn't get any drawing or painting done over the weekend. Instead I spent some quality time in my long-neglected gardens. I weeded, cut, pulled and raked until every spot of my body ached. Then I got a wild hair, dug a whole, and proceeded to fill it with a tree. I got an Autumn Blaze maple, one that will hopefully give me the wonderful fall colors I adore. Of course, it may take a while...the ropes used to stake him are thicker than the trunk! I look forward to watching him grow. I've never planted a tree, so it is a growing experience for me too :)

But just to show I haven't completely abandoned my creative side, here are some beads I made a few weeks ago. I call them "Blue Girl's Garden" because the roses remind me of my Blue Girl rose. She didn't bloom this summer, but she is still growing strong!

Oh...I did work on my polar bear a little bit last night, still have a looooooong way to go!

Have to make some time!

I haven't updated my blog in quite a while, mainly because I have nothing to update! Work has been busier than normal, a lot of new projects and changes, then when I get home it takes a while to de-stress. My goal for this weekend is to have something new done! I've been itching to dig out the oil paints. Fall is quickly approaching, and I think I may try a nice plein air. At the very least, work on my polar bear. Poor guy feels abandoned. We will see how it works out :)

Improvements and a work in progress

I had to work on my rosebud. I wasn't very happy with the spotty background and the lack of sharp edges. I love working with colored pencils because of the incredible detail that can be achieved. I wasn't getting it and it was beginning to frustrate me to no end! So I sharpened my pencils as much as I could and went back to work. I like the new results much better. I'm still working on patience and taking my time, and I can see a difference when I can do it.

Here is the new and improved rosebud! The colors are so much richer and it looks a bit more realistic. I'm so happy with it! I even changed the photo on the profile side. This is an ACEO card, in otherwords...it is 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size. It makes a person a bit squinty drawing that small!

This is my current work in progress. It is a challenge on Wet Canvas...a predominantly white picture, and I can not use any gray! Um...eek! I'm not sure if I'm happy with the way the water is turning out, but I'm no where near finished, so we shall see. Oh...and it is a polar bear! You can see the reference photo behind him, and the latest issue of Redneck World *heehee*

The things I have laying on the counter :)

The reason I decided to start this blog is a wonderful group call Everyday Matters http://everydaymatters.pbwiki.com/

It is a wonderful group of amazingly talented artists. I love to draw, paint, work with fiber and glass, and pretty much anything that feeds my need to create.

This is a bit easier to update than my website too *lol*

If you are interested in seeing any of my past work, check out http://www.airofdistinction.com/

I ordered some new sketchbooks today...hopefully they will be here soon so I can begin filling them! For now, I leave you with the picture of the first faerie I have done, named Shy.
